The International Week for Cultural and Environmental Heritage, Florens 2012, is scheduled to take place in Florence from November 3 to 11: meetings, lectio magistralis, round tables, events and urban installations with more than 350 lecturers from all over the world. The programme (www.fondazioneflorens.it) includes during the International Forum for Cultural and Environmental Heritage, more than 40 meetings, lectio magistralis, round tables, events and urban installations, cultural happenings and musical events. The entrance to all the events is free of charge ; they will take place in many Florentine locations, from the religious ones (Baptistery, Cathedral) to the civic institutions (Palazzo Vecchio), places (Piazza Santa Croce, Piazza San Giovanni), and museums.
“Culture, quality of life”, this is the title of Florens 2012, which works as a platform aimed at link organization and subjects that share a mission aimed at increasing well-being and generating an economy that feeds on culture. Florens 2012 is centered around the recuperation, restoration and fruition of cultural heritage. It also focuses on tutelage of Italy’s landscape in connection with cultural heritage and identity-raising systems, while fostering the promotion of cultural and environmental projects characterized by their solid technological content and infrastructures. The focus lies with several themes based on ‘know-how’, such as craftsmanship and the food and wine sector. Additionally, it promotes the development of new projects with integrated vision that focus on economic themes.
On these issues, Florens 2012 rallies in Florence all public and private cultural institutions, banking foundations, companies and associations, the main national and international actors of the different sectors of the economy to develop cultural ideas and innovative proposals to propose and exhibit their work in a productive exchange. An international workshop which compares opera houses, festivals and cultural studies of cinema, scientific research and university education, publishing and art journals, creative industries - from fashion agribusiness - and crafts, art fairs and antique shops, museums and the most innovative experiences for the conservation and enhancement of the cultural and environmental heritage, the new technologies applied to art and the so called smart cities.
The Foundation Florens, rises from the experience of Florens 2010, is a no profit association whose missioni to promote awareness and development of the economy for sectors linked to cultural heritage, industrial creativity and cultural production, in addition to playing a propellant role in integrating cultural policy according to new logic aimed at re-launching the country’s economy. The Foundation’s guiding concept is a pioneering new vision for economic development that does not dismiss culture and landscape as sectors linked to unproductive expenses.
