Finding of Financial Resources and Management of Cultural Projects
AIAF- Associazione Italiana degli Analisti Finanziari. Event - FLORENS 2012– Biennale Internazionale dei Beni Culturali e Ambientali
Saturday November 10 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. - Sala Tintori
This meeting is intended to debate on the issues, the characteristics and the problems inherent in the fundrising obtained from various public and private institutions in Italy. Main "sponsor" and "manager", in Italy, is by far the public sector; it has recently increasingly reduced its funds for Arts and Culture, both at central and local authority. The same preservation of our cultural heritage is increasingly not sufficient, as recently reported by the same Mario Resca former manager of the office for the enhancement in the MIBAC and its costs are very highly raise. The support of the private companies and institutions (Italian and foreign) in the field of sponsorship, is relevant only for great events and projects, in part because of a unfavourable tax treatment for donations. Even the purchase of artworks could support projects, but also in this case we note that the tax treatment in Italy is unfavourable.
We study in detail the "excellent" case of the Guggenheim Foundation and we present some other cases of foundations with Italian 'management'. We also talk about banking foundations, banks, which have a supporting role in this sector.
We talk about governance: in fact, after the conversion into law of the decree on the development which at the Article no. 8 provides the creation of the Great Brera as a public-private foundation in charge of the management of the National Gallery of Milan, it is inevitably reignited the debate on the the role of individuals in cultural institutions. At an operational level, although there are many ongoing improvements, we see that there is still a low interaction of many museums and private collections and sponsors.
We will also examine the accounting aspect, which, if well implemented by means of correct business plans drawn up with a good sensitivity analysis and audited accounts, strengthens the availability of donor resources.
We will discuss the highlighted points with the help of members of the financial world, museums, universities and art galleries, which will bring their testimonies. The future of this area is crucial for Italy, and finance it is a difficult and important challenge, quite more difficult in a time when both the public sector and the manufacturing sector suffering from an economic crisis difficult to overcome
