Friday November, 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. - Saletta Rosi
Cavaniglia Pavilion, Fortezza da Basso, Florence
The meeting illustrates the main problems faced and solved during the three year intervention of restoration of some large scale frescoes on a cement surface (from 20 to 100 square meters), discovered after the 1988 quake, detached in Gyumri and now placed in the Municipality Palace in Gyumri, in the Government Palace and in the airport of Yerevan.
All the artworks, created by various artists, including Minas Avetisyan (1928-1975), had the following treatments: the cleaning of the surface; the consolidation of the colour; the relining with bones glue; the detachment of the mural painting by its original support; the consolidation of the frescoes and the replacement on a new Fiberglas support made with epoxidic resin and aluminum honeycomb large 25 mm; the in-filling and the colour restoration and re-integration procedures.
