The cultural heritage of Berat and the regional cooperation for its preservation

The conference focuses on the art beauties of the city of Berat, famous for its large number of mural paintings. It will also focus the great effort of the local Istituto dei Monumenti and of the Ministries of Culture and Tourism. In particular it will be described the history and the construction techniques of monuments as the paleocristiane and Byzantine churches and its methodologies of conservation and restoration, the agreements with other regionali partners, the management cuktural heritage policies, the preparation of the dossier of Berat for UNESCO. A part of the conference is dedicated to the scientific collaboration and to the problems arising out from wooden and frescoes artefacts, as showed by the studies made in collaboration with various institutions as the Politecnico of Milan, the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Tirana, the IMK Istituto dei Monumenti Culturali and the General Direction of Berat. There will finally be presented the future international collaboration activities with private and public institutions as the UNESCO, the ICOMOS, the ICCROM, etc.
