The restoration of Predica del Battista by Domenico Crespi (called the Passignano) in S. Michele in Visdomini

A very difficult option. Remove or maintain a 19th century over-painting: the image of the Battista completely changed by the intervention of Luigi Scotti in the year 1823. This restoration process changed in a very deep way the emotional aspect and the formal structure of the artwork by Passignano. In spite of this, after a series of diagnostic analyses restorers decide to maintain the 19th century aspect of the artworks.
