Restoration Techiques for large canvases: Theater curtains.

The restoration of large scale paintings as for example, the theatrical curtains is based on a specific particular methodology which depends from the material structure, the condition of the canvas, the artwork allocation and the condition of its usage.
During the meeting the speaker will show three different interventions of restoration: the 18th century curtain of the theatre of the Reggia of Caserta, painted with tempera, which depict an allegorical theme inspired by the raffaelleschi frescoes of the Stanze Vaticane; the curtain of the Teatro Guglielmi in Massa, a 1881 work by the painter Annibale Gatti; the ceiling of the Teatro Municipale of Salerno, inaugurated on the 15 April 1872 with the 'Rigoletto'.
