Reliefs and structural analysis of historic buildings

Prof. Alberto Cecchi, Università degli Studi di Firenze - Master of Science in Civil Engineering
Friday Novermber 12- from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sala Gaetano Bianchi

The meeting is based on the presentation of three researches published and discussed in many international meetings which focus the great importance of the static knowledge of the monumental buildings. The innovative recent technologies as laser or Computer and digital Vision make easier to work in this sector.
The first research examined the bridge of August at Narni: the researcher made an accurate relief of the bridge by using a laser station and examining its history and geography aspects by means of innovative disciplines as the digital image technique. The second research was based on the geometry of the internal surface of the Cupola del Brunelleschi, in the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence which was examined by using the methods of the geometria differenziale. The third research was based on the work of an engineer, Antonio Carcopino, who in the years 1825 - 1828 projected and built a metal bridge in Quinto (Florence).
