The Palmenti in the Mediterranean area. New discoveries and conservation projects
Associazione Patrum Vinea et Viridarium
Friday Novermber 12- from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Sala Leonetto Tintori
The conference organised at the first edition of the Fair in 2009 presented to the public the extraordinary heritage represented by the 2.000 old stone wine presses located in a group of areas, in the Mediterranean. In 2009 the meeting was based on the researches carried out on the wine presses of Tuscany (the Isle of the Giglio), in Calabria (Ferruzzano, S. Caterina dello Ionio, Pollino), in Basilicata (Pietragalla), in the Isle of Malta (Misqa Tanks, Mgarr ix-Xini, Il-Lippija) in Bulgaria and in various other Mediterranean countries (Mauritania, Spain, Israel).
The 2010 conference focuses the new discoveries made in this field, with particular reference to the Tuscany territory. The restoration experts will later discuss about the problems connected with the conservation process of stone and marble wine presses, presenting some experimental solutions and proposal which will be soon included, under the Superintendence supervision, in some new pilot projects.
